Extended Flu Clinic Availability in Yellowknife

Yellowknife (November 16, 2020) Thanks to the successful first flu vaccination clinic, over 4,700 vaccinations have been delivered to Yellowknife residents.

To service the ongoing demand for vaccinations, additional appointments will be offered at Public Health from November 23 - 29.

Residents will be able book appointments by using the online booking form, starting November 18th at 10:00am.

All NWT residents are encouraged to get their flu vaccinations for the season, and together help the NWT as a flu-fighting community. The CPHO recommends that NWT residents get their flu shots as incidences of respiratory infections will increase in the coming weeks as more people gather indoors.

As the influenza virus causes similar symptoms to COVID-19, by getting vaccinated residents can help lessen the burden on the territory’s testing system, which will help healthcare professionals trace and respond to COVID-19 cases quickly.

More details regarding community specific advice on how to access the flu shot can be found at www.nthssa.ca/flu

Fast Facts:

  • The NWT is servicing a higher demand for flu shots this year, and is prepared to supply for twice as many total vaccinations as usual.
  • Process changes regarding public health measures to prevent COVID-19 will change some of the regular flu clinic processes and opportunities.
