Public Notice: The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority No Longer Distributing Free Rapid Antigen At-Home COVID-19 Tests

Public Notice

(Yellowknife, February 26, 2024) – The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is advising residents that Rapid Antigen At-Home COVID-19 tests, that have been available to residents since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, will no longer be provided. This change will take effect through March 2024.

The need and demand for at-home testing of COVID-19 has greatly reduced with the end of the pandemic. NWT health and social services authorities will continue to have access to in-facility COVID-19 testing, but this test will only be performed when the need for testing has been identified by a health care provider, based on best practices and to inform clinical decision making.

People interested in purchasing at-home COVID-19 tests can still do so in places where other home healthcare supplies are available, either online or check with your local retail pharmacy.
