Spotlight: Rehab Staff support COVID-19 Testing

Blog Post

In January, numerous travellers were returning to the NWT after holidays. COVID-19 testing needs increased and testing capacity was stretched thin.

Any locum physician and healthcare providers traveling to the NWT to provide care must be tested before they are able to see patients, and ensuring testing was accessible for staff so they could get to work helping residents without reducing available testing. for the public was a challenge.

To support this, rehab staff were trained in COVID-19 testing, and in less than 5 days set up an in-hospital testing centre for staff and online booking platform, so that staff testing needs could still be met, and the regular testing team could focus on providing services to the public and anyone who was sick.

Today, the team is preparing to transition away from staff testing and back to their regular caseloads and duties.

If you have symptoms, get tested.
