Emily Heeringa is a Licensed Practical Nurse Lead for Primary Care, who exemplifies dedication and leadership in healthcare. With a rich background spanning long-term care, medivac services, and public health, Emily is a strong advocate for culturally safe and accessible care. Recently, she became the first LPN Director of the College and Association of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CANNN), a testament to her impactful work in the North.
Throughout her career, Emily has mentored Aurora College nursing students, led frontline efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, and now inspires her team at Łıwegǫ̀atì Building and YPCC clinics. Her commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and addressing systemic racism is central to her nursing practice, ensuring equitable care for all, particularly Indigenous communities.
