NORTHWEST TERRITORIES - (May 16, 2025) – The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is proud to recognize and celebrate individuals and teams based in the Beaufort Delta Region who have won various territorial and national health care awards in 2024-2025.
Even among challenging realities, including limited staffing, crises, and numerous strains on the health care system – not unlike other jurisdictions – health care providers in the Beaufort Delta have demonstrated excellence this year. While they may form a small percentage of the NTHSSA’s overall workforce, staff in the region are making a difference in communities and have excelled in providing high-quality care to residents of the Beaufort Delta.
We are proud to celebrate the following individuals and teams who have won awards:
- Judy Wagner: NTHSSA 2024 Canadian Patient Safety Week: Patient Safety Champion
Presented by the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority
This award is presented to someone who demonstrates continued efforts to improve the system and make progress towards safer care. Judy goes above and beyond for patients is a champion for patient safety across the region. - Dr. Gail Robson: Award for Leadership Excellence in Health Care
Presented by the Northwest Territories Medical Association
This award honours individuals who demonstrate vision, dedication, and commitment to improving health services. Dr. Robson was honoured for her exceptional leadership and lasting impact on health services in the Northwest Territories. - Dr. Patrick Laflèche: Stuart Iglesias ESS/OSS Bursary Award
Presented by the Society of Rural Physicians of Canada
This national bursary supports physicians expanding their Emergency and Operative Surgical Services (ESS/OSS) skills for rural practice. Dr. LaFleche’s commitment to professional growth and rural health care excellence earned him this award. - Inuvik Regional Hospital General Practice Surgical Team - Rural Leadership Award
Presented by the Society of Rural Physicians of Canada
This award recognizes health care teams that demonstrate exceptional leadership and dedication to improving rural communities' access to quality care. The surgical team at Inuvik Regional Hospital, along with the OR Manager and nurses that support the work, have shown resilience and innovation in delivering essential surgical services for the region.
The NTHSSA would like to express its deepest gratitude and sincere congratulations to each of these individuals and teams for these incredible accomplishments. These awards showcase your outstanding commitment to quality care, leadership, and teamwork during challenging times.
