(Fort Simpson, June 28, 2026) - Residents are advised that effective immediately and until further notice, the Fort Simpson Health Centre will shift to emergency on-call services only, similar to services offered on weekends and statutory holidays, following the Evacuation Order issued for the village this evening.
Residents in the community who require emergency health services can call the existing on-call number at 867-695-3232 to receive assistance from available staff on-site until further notice.
If you have upcoming medical travel, or are currently outside of Fort Simpson on medical travel, please call 867-669-4115 to discuss any potential changes to your arrangements.
If you need to contact Child and Family Services, please call 867-695-6585. The Child and Family Services office in Fort Simpson will be closed on Monday June 29, 2026 and until further notice. Community Mental Health Services and Home Care Services in the community will also be closed on Monday, June 29, 2026 and until further notice.
Residents of Jean Marie River, Nahanni Butte, Sambaa K'e, and Wrigley can still call the Fort Simpson Health Centre's on-call number at 867-695-3232 to connect with a Community Health Nurse. A designated Nurse Practitioner will also continue providing scheduled virtual care services for residents of these communities during regular business hours.
The designated evacuee reception centre for Fort Simpson residents is being stood up by the City of Yellowknife at the Multiplex. NTHSSA staff will be available starting on the morning of Monday June 29, 2026 to assist with health and social services navigation.
For general health advice, residents are encouraged to call 811 to speak with a Registered Nurse. For those evacuating to Yellowknife in need of Primary Care services, please visit Health Services in the Yellowknife Region for information related to booking appointments. In an emergency, call 911 or present to the Emergency Department at Stanton Territorial Hospital at 548 Byrne Road.
