Yellowknife Health Services

Services are delivered at two clinic sites in Yellowknife - the Łıwegǫ̀atì Building and/or the Yellowknife Primary Care Centre. For the comfort of clients and staff, our buildings are scent-free. We ask you to use scent-free products when you come to a clinic.  

Services include:

  • Health promotion, including healthy lifestyle promotion, maternal health, reproductive and childcare and community development.
  • Health protection and preventative services, including screening, intervention disease control, prevention of injury, prevention of chronic diseases and addictions, hearing and vision, early intervention.
  • Continuing care, including palliative care and long-term care.
  • Community Mental Health and Adults Services
  • Diabetes Program
  • Support to Quit Smoking (Tobacco Cessation Clinic) 
  • Acute, diagnostic and laboratory services

Visiting Hours:

Reminder to visitors accessing the Łıwegǫ̀atì Building, there are no formal visiting hours as this space is considered the resident’s home. The exterior doors of the Łıwegǫ̀atì Building open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 10:00 p.m. If you are visiting a family member after-hours, you can ring the doorbell and security will provide you with access.

Booking Appointments

Information on same-day appointments:

  • If you book a same-day appointment, you will be told where your appointment will be. It could be at the Łıwegǫ̀atì Building or Yellowknife Primary Care Centre. 
  • To book a same-day appointment with a primary care practitioner, you have 3 options: 
    • Option 1: Call (867) 767-9294 starting at 8:05 AM, Monday - Friday and Saturdays starting at 8:35 AM.
    • Option 2: Visit the downtown Yellowknife Primary Care Centre in-person starting at 8:05 AM, Monday to Friday and Saturdays starting at 10:00 AM.
    • Option 3: Visit the Primary Care Reception desk at the Łıwegǫ̀atì Building in-person between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
    • Please note that same-day appointments fill quickly as there are limited number of appointments available each day. Patients are encouraged to call the clinic early in the day to secure an appointment.

Information on scheduling appointment bookings:

  • To book a scheduled appointment with a primary care practitioner or member from your integrated care team, you have 3 options: 
    • Option 1: Call Primary Care directly at (867) 767-9294. Please note that call volumes may be high and if your call is not immediately answered, please try again, or use one of the other options.
    • Option 2: Visit the downtown Yellowknife Primary Care Centre or the Primary Care Reception Desk at the Łıwegǫ̀atì Building in-person.
