Public Notice
YELLOWKNIFE (October 13, 2026) – The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is pleased to announce extended outpatient laboratory collection hours and the launch of an online booking system in Yellowknife, effective immediately.
Extended Hours:
Outpatient collection hours at Stanton Territorial Hospital (STH) will be extended from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, to 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., adding 4.5 hours of service and allowing 38 more outpatient appointments daily at STH.
This means that residents in Yellowknife can now enjoy convenient lab services at:
- Stanton Territorial Hospital (STH) from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily (excluding weekends and statutory holidays) by appointment only;
- And through the Yellowknife Primary Care Centre (YPCC) in the YK Centre East Building from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily (excluding weekends and statutory holidays and closed over lunch) by walk-in same-day service only.
Online Booking:
The new online booking system is available at nthssa.waitwell.ca and allows residents to book lab appointments for the STH location.
The online booking system addresses patient feedback by offering a more convenient way to access lab services in Yellowknife. It provides a quick, simple, and secure way to schedule appointments. Clients who book through the online system will automatically receive an appointment confirmation when they submit their request, along with an appointment reminder.
This initiative aims to improve community access to healthcare by offering more convenient and flexible services. With the availability of appointments outside standard work and school hours, the NTHSSA hopes to give patients greater flexibility in scheduling and to increase appointment availability. Our objective is to offer responsive services that directly address residents' needs, reduce wait times, and create a more positive and accessible healthcare experience for all.
Residents also have the option of using the Callback Request Form or booking an appointment by phone or in person. Visit Laboratory Services | Health and Social Services Authority for all the ways you can book.
