Occupational Therapy Month: Amanda Johnson, Territorial Coordinator, Youth FASD

Blog Post

Amanda came to the NWT as an Occupational Therapist in 2006. She primarily works with children and youth but is known to cover across all areas of practice! She currently works as the Territorial Coordinator, Youth FASD (NTHSSA- YK Region) as a part of the Child Development Team. She coordinates diagnostic clinics for youth, and provides follow-up support for families, caregivers, teachers, and other supporters across the NWT.

Professionally she is passionate about adapting and adjusting our environments to support student's needs and reframing our thoughts about challenging behaviour. “Working as an Occupational Therapist with a wide scope of practice in the NWT is always an adventure. Getting to work closely with other health care providers and community partners has developed great relationships and memories.”
Outside of work, you'll likely see her bike commuting, skiing and subarctic gardening in all seasons with her partner, kids and dog.
