(Yellowknife – May 30, 2024) – The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is pleased to share that earlier today, the first patients were welcomed to the Łıwegǫ̀atì building for scheduled appointments.

The opening of the Łıwegǫ̀atì building brings the NTHSSA’s vision of a campus of care to reality. Creating a campus of care around the Stanton Territorial Hospital site allows for increased convenience to access services in one location for residents who live in Yellowknife, and those who travel to Yellowknife from other communities for care and services. It will also allow the NTHSSA – over time – to adjust and refine processes to ensure they best serve NWT residents. 

As of today, services available in the Łıwegǫ̀atì building include:

• Primary Care Services:  
  • This includes all services provided by the NTHSSA’s four integrated care teams.  
• Outpatient Services & Rehabilitation:
  • Audiology Services
  • Child Development Team
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Speech Language Pathology

Some same-day appointments will also be provided at the Łıwegǫ̀atì building, but most same-day appointments will continue to be offered at the downtown Yellowknife Primary Care Centre. Once you book your same-day appointment, you will be informed about the location your appointment.

Reminder to residents: The Frame Lake Community Health Clinic and all Outpatient Rehabilitation Services that were previously offered at the Centre Square Mall or Stanton Medical Clinic, are now closed, and have moved to Łıwegǫ̀atì building.

The NTHSSA would like to thank staff for their hard work, and residents for their interest and continued understanding and patience as processes are refined in the weeks and months to come. As future milestones are met, the NTHSSA looks forward to sharing updates.
