(Yellowknife – May 1, 2023) - On May 6th, 2023, the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is hosting a pop-up clinic in Yellowknife where individuals can get a quick STI test without an appointment. The clinic will be open from 11 AM to 4 PM at the Yellowknife Primary Care Clinic with Nurses from Yellowknife Public Health available to provide services. All appointments will be by walk-in only. All residents are invited to come for information or to access testing, and to help break down stigma of sexually transmitted infections.
Through this event we hope to:
- Increase awareness of sexually transmitted infections and how to prevent them.
- Raise awareness of the importance of getting tested.
- Reduce the stigma of getting tested.
- Continue to provide low-barrier options for testing to combat the ongoing Syphilis outbreak in the NWT.
Date: May 6th, 2023

Location: Yellowknife Primary Care Clinic, 4915, 48 street

Health care providers and health promoters will be on site all day to promote sexual health – what it is, why it matters, and why you shouldn’t be afraid of testing for sexually transmitted infections and seeking treatment. With STI rates rising across the country, including here in the NWT, everyone can be part of protecting themselves and each other by getting a quick and simple test.
