PUBLIC NOTICE: Downtown Yellowknife Primary Care Centre Partially Reopens, Following Recent Flooding

Public Notice

(Yellowknife, January 9, 2024) The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is advising residents that Yellowknife Primary Care Centre (YPCC), located in Downtown Yellowknife at 4915 48 street is on reduced services until further notice due to a flooding incident that impacted the building and spaces where primary care clinics operate.

Effective January 9th, 2024, services will be as follows:

  • Clinic side (Pod A) will open to the public, including any previously booked primary care appointments at Yellowknife Primary Care Centre.
  • The Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging side (Pod B) will remain closed until further notice. Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging services will consolidate at Stanton Territorial Hospital.
  • Psychiatry will continue to see booked appointments in Pod A.
  • Affected Mental Health Counsellors will work out of Goga Cho (Counsellors working out of Jan Stirling are not affected). All affected clients will be notified of changes.

Phone lines at YPCC are also operational and NTHSSA staff will continue to contact individuals with impacted appointments. Information will be provided to individuals about rebooking and efforts will be made to divert some appointments to the Frame Lake Community Health Clinic, located at 312 Old Airport Rd.

Additional updates will follow as information changes and/or more information is available about remediation of space damaged by the flooding and primary care services.
NTHSSA would like to thank residents for their understanding and patience as we navigate this issue and thank staff for their hard work during this time.

As we transition back to full service, residents who require new appointments can call either Frame Lake Community Health Clinic at 867-767-9125 or Yellowknife Primary Care Centre at 867-767-9294. Callers may experience high call volumes so we ask for patience while we work to adjust services and will continue to provide more information via our website, social media, and local media outlets on alternate plans or resumption of full services.
