Therapeutic Recreation Month: Tasia Walsh, Recreation Therapist

Blog Post

February is Therapeutic Recreation Month and the theme for this year is “One Profession, One Voice,” inspiring us to unite and champion the Therapeutic Recreation profession. Join us in acknowledging and celebrating our great teams and staff who provide this service.

Tasia Walsh has been a proud resident of Yellowknife since 2011. Currently she works as a Recreation Therapist for the NTHSSA at the new Łıwegǫ̀atì Building for our Extended and Long Term Care residents from across the Northwest Territories.

She is deeply passionate about supporting individuals’ recreation and leisure goals, focusing on a holistic approach to improve their overall well-being. She is continuously inspired to learn new skills and perspectives through collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, and the Elders she supports, that enhance the quality of care provided to her residents. Tasia is always eager to contribute meaningfully to her community and supporting those she works with.

Outside of work, Tasia enjoys immersing herself in nature, camping with her child and dogs, painting and is a sci-fi enthusiast.
