Visitor Restrictions in Long Term Care and Acute Care Sites

SEE MARCH 17th Update: Long Term Care Visitation Cancelled

Starting today, March 16, 2020, all Long Term Care facilities and sites that would normally receive visitors for those residing in the facility or individuals receiving care and services on an in-patient basis will be limiting the number of visitors allowed. Details below:

  • Visiting hours will be between 10 AM and 8 PM daily
  • Visitors will be limited to one person per visit.
  • This includes all acute care sites and long-term care facilities.
  • Any visitors displaying any flu like symptoms (cough, fever, difficulty breathing) will be denied visitation access.

Special considerations will be given to unique or exceptional circumstances. Regional Chief Operating Officers and local Area Medical Directors will approve any exceptions. These restrictions are subject to change, and any individuals who have traveled outside the NWT and have symptoms should not attempt visitation.
