Child and Youth Counsellors Available Throughout Summer To Support Youth And Young Adults

Public Notice

YELLOWKNIFE (June 25, 2025) – As the 2024-2025 school year comes to an end, the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) would like to remind residents that Child and Youth Counsellors will remain available throughout the summer to support children, youth, and their families.

The Child and Youth Counselling (CYC) Program is a key part of mental health services across the Northwest Territories (NWT). Integrated into the Community Counselling Program, Child and Youth Counsellors provide free clinical mental health services to support children, youth, and their families year-round.

Counsellors are available to talk, provide support, and help youth and their families connect with other services if needed.

The CYC Program has flexibility to meet the various needs of residents, with services available during standard office hours all year (except for on weekends and statutory holidays) in person or by phone through your local Community Counselling Program. e-Mental Health options can also make a difference in your overall wellness by offering immediate access to supports. This includes the ability to connect with a virtual counsellor by phone or text, as well as self-directed tools.

Remember, there is no wrong door when it comes to accessing mental health care. If you need support or someone to talk to, or have a friend or family member who you think may benefit from these resources, please reach out.
