Counselling and Psychotherapy Month Spotlight: Rosemin Nathoo, Community Counselling Practicum Student, Beaufort Delta Region

Blog Post

Rosemin Nathoo is currently completing her 8-month practicum with the community counselling program in Inuvik, Northwest Territories, as the final stage of her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. She moved to Inuvik from rural Quebec in 2018 and worked for five years as a biologist for the Inuvialuit wildlife co-management system before pursuing this career change in and for Inuvik. Rose takes a holistic, relational, and physiological approach to clinical trauma counselling and learns from her clients every day.

Rosemin’s favourite coping skill: Did you know that there are several different types of rest? Rest can be passive (a nap, or Star Trek on the couch) or active (walking in the Delta or spending time with friends). It can be helpful to take the time to identify what kind of rest we really need: physical, social spiritual, emotional, mental, creative, or sensory.
