Northwest Territories (December 23, 2025) – The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) would like to remind residents there may be closures or changes to facility operating hours during the holiday season. For the most up-to-date information, please visit the NTHSSA holiday closures webpage, or contact your local health centre for updates throughout the 2025 holiday season.

Some significant items for awareness include:

Laboratory Services:

• Limited laboratory testing may be possible due to flight and courier delays for some time-sensitive tests during the afternoon of December 23 and all day December 24 and 31. Region-specific hours for outpatient lab services are listed on the holiday closures webpage.

Diagnostic Imaging:

• Fort Smith X-ray services will be unavailable from December 26 to January 8. All non-urgent X-ray imaging will be deferred until January 9, 2026, and onward. Any urgent and emergency imaging will require clients to be transferred to Hay River Health Centre or Stanton Territorial Hospital.
