Public Notice
YELLOWKNIFE (October 31, 2025) – The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) reminds residents that flu clinics continue across the territory to make vaccination easy and help keep communities safe.
Flu Clinics
Clinic schedules vary by community because flu activity peaks at different times across the territory. Additional clinics may be added in your region as needed, so residents are reminder to please check with your local health centre or visit www.nthssa.ca/flu for updates.
Vaccine Uptake
There has been strong uptake for both flu and COVID-19 vaccines this October, in Yellowknife and most of the territory who have started to offer clinics.
Public Health staff have also offered clinics to residents in long-term care, seniors, immunocompromised individuals, hospital patients, and homecare clients, and health care workers who work with vulnerable populations. Uptake in these settings has also been high which is important to ensure the most vulnerable populations are safe against influenza and/or COVID-19. Work to vaccinate this population across all regions, continues.
COVID-19 Vaccine Supply Update
Due to a temporary cold-chain issue that caused spoilage of a shipment during transport, COVID-19 vaccine supply in the NWT is currently limited. As a result, high-risk individuals will be prioritized until new shipments arrive. That means that when you present at a public health walk-in flu clinic, you will only be offered a flu vaccine, unless you identify as high-risk of severe illness or complications and require a COVID-19 vaccine right away. Once additional supply is received, COVID-19 vaccines will again be offered to the public at flu clinics and/or by appointment through your local public health clinic.
Residents are also reminded that if you don’t have time to make it to your local flu clinic to receive your flu vaccine or are not high-risk and were unable to receive a COVID-19 vaccine during clinic periods, you can contact your local health centre or public health clinic to book an appointment. Appointment availability may vary during flu clinic season.
