Public Notice
(Yellowknife, July 8th, 2024) – The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is excited to share that this week, extended care residents will be moving into the Łıwegǫ̀atì building.
Tomorrow, July 9th members of the public visiting to the Łıwegǫ̀atì building for appointments may notice increased traffic in the building as the final pieces of furniture are moved in. Following that, on July 10th, extended care residents will be moved from Stanton Territorial Hospital (STH) to the Łıwegǫ̀atì Building. These residents will occupy 10 of the 16 beds, with extra capacity on reserve for NWT residents who need these services in the future. The move from STH is expected to take place during the morning hours, with the afternoon being left for residents to settle into their new homes.
By the afternoon of Wednesday, July 10th, family, and friends of extended care residents will be invited to start visiting. Reminder to visitors, there are no formal visiting hours as this space is considered the resident’s home. The exterior doors of the Łıwegǫ̀atì Building open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 10:00 p.m. If you are visiting a family member after-hours, you can ring the doorbell and security will provide you with access.
While the first floor of the Łıwegǫ̀atì Building remains a service centre for NWT residents requiring primary care and/or outpatient rehabilitation services, the building is home to extended care residents. NTHSSA asks individuals to continue to show kindness when accessing the building and thanks you for your continued patience and understanding as new ways of working are established, to serve you best.
The NTHSSA is excited to see this move complete and eager to have residents settled in and enjoying the new space and enhanced comforts.
