Public Notice: NTHSSA announces new options for accessing outpatient lab services at Stanton Territorial Hospital

(Yellowknife, April 15, 2024) – The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is pleased to announce that effective immediately, residents now have more options for accessing outpatient lab services at Stanton Territorial Hospital (STH). You can either:

  1. Use the services the same way you always have and visit the lab at STH at a time that works best for you during the hours they are open. You will have your name added to the waitlist for the next available opening. Please note that wait times continue to be longer than usual and the NTHSSA appreciates your patience.  
  1. You can call ahead and book a future date and time that is convenient. Appointments can be made by calling (867) 767-9300 ext. 46673 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.
  1. You can also now visit the lab at STH and if available, be provided with a timeslot for later that same day. This will allow people to leave and come back at their designated timeslot, eliminating the overflow in the waiting rooms, and giving residents some flexibility in their day.

The NTHSSA is regularly looking at ways to enhance services to meet the needs of residents, and part of this includes reviewing feedback received through the Office of Client Experience. Enhancing service options for the lab has been a theme in feedback received, and the NTHSSA hopes that these new options will better support the needs of residents accessing this service.

The NTHSSA continues to thank residents for their patience and understanding as we continue to navigate high demand, and encourages residents to continue to share their feedback, suggestions, compliments and/or complaints through the Office of Client Experience.

The NTHSSA would also like to remind residents that the Outpatient Laboratory Collections remains closed at the Yellowknife Primary Care Centre until further notice, due to ongoing repairs.
