PUBLIC NOTICE: Process for Accessing Health and Social Services During Telecommunications Outages 

The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) wants residents to know that health and social services programs and services remain available throughout telecommunications outages. Processes for accessing care and services may be adjusted localy but the following applies in all areas:
  • In the event you are unable to reach your health centre or local hospital by phone, please present in person for any urgent needs  
  • If you require information about your medical travel and are accessing services through the NWT Medical Travel Program, the backup phone number is 867-446-6828.
  • If you have an urgent issue that requires assistance from child and family services and you are unable to reach the on-call emergency number, please present at your local health centre for assistance.
  • If you have a family member in care that you are trying to reach please either present in person during visitation hours or you may try reaching them via online services such as messenger, FaceTime or WhatsApp, as internet services remain available in many areas.
