Public Notice: Reduction of X-Ray Services in Fort Smith

Public Notice

FORT SMITH (June 3, 2025) - The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is advising residents of a short-term disruption to X-ray services in Fort Smith. This reduction of services will be in effect from 3:30 p.m. today (June 3, 2025), and remain in place until 8:00 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2025.

This service reduction is due to a lack of available X-ray technologists in the community during this time. The NTHSSA continues efforts to find qualified staff to fill these positions and will update the public of any changes to service levels as they become available.

During this period, clients in need of routine or non-urgent X-ray services may choose to travel to Hay River for care. For any urgent or emergency X-ray needs, medical travel support will be available to ensure timely access to necessary services.

The NTHSSA will continue efforts to secure staffing for this period and will provide updates if this information changes. Please note that this does not impact access to laboratory services, which will continue uninterrupted during this time.
