Public Notice
UPDATE: January 17, 2024 - The day shelter - located at the site of the old visitors centre - is now open and returned to usual operations. NTHSSA would like to thank patients/clients for their understanding during this time and all of our staff and contractors who helped to adjust operations and address facility issues.
(Yellowknife, January 15, 2024) The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is providing this notice to update residents on facility status after a number of closures or service reductions related to facility issues caused by extreme cold weather.
As of Monday, January 15th:
- Yellowknife Primary Care Centre is operating at normal levels.
- Downtown outpatient laboratory – located at Primary Care – remains closed until further notice
- Frame Lake Community Health Clinic is open and resuming normal service levels.
- The day shelter, located at the site of the old visitors centre, is closed due to a lack of water to the facility and operations are being re-established at the site of the Yellowknife Sobering Centre at 5111, 50th street, where services will be co-located until the facility issues are resolved. Staff are on site at both locations to redirect and welcome clients and partners and stakeholders have been informed.
As we re-establish regular services in primary care we would like to thank residents for their ongoing patience as we expect increased demand for a period of time. Those who require new appointments can call either Frame Lake Community Health Clinic at 867-767-9125 or Yellowknife Primary Care Centre at 867-767-9294.
We would also like to recognize the significant efforts of staff as we continue to manage through these issues; many individuals have worked to adjust services and operations in response to these facility issues while also working to deliver the care and services residents depend on.
