COVID-19 VACCINE UPDATE for residents in Yellowknife:
Due to Yellowknife’s large population size compared to other NWT communities, we are opening up COVID-19 vaccine appointments based on a more detailed breakdown of priority groups. We are doing this to ensure residents at highest risk are getting the vaccine first.
As we move through each priority group, we will widen the criteria each time to include more people. For example, if you are aged 60+ in Yellowknife and haven’t yet gotten your vaccine, you can still book an appointment during future vaccine clinics.
Starting today, we have opened up additional appointments between January 26-28 at the Multiplex DND Gym for the following Yellowknife residents:
- People aged 60 and over
- People of any age with both high risk of exposure to COVID-19 AND high risk of severe disease from COVID-19 (graphic below)
Appointments can be made online by following this link: https://nthssabookings.simplybook.me/v2/
There will be a limited number of appointments in this next round for Yellowknife. Vaccine received to date is being used as first doses for priority groups. The next two vaccine shipments will be used to deliver second doses to these same priority groups. We are on track to begin offering the vaccine to the general adult population at the end of March 2021, ahead of most of the country.
We are asking residents to be community-minded and let our most vulnerable residents get vaccinated first. If you are unable to get an appointment but you fit into a priority group below, please e-mail CPHO@gov.nt.ca.
