Yellowknife (April 3, 2025) – The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) – Yellowknife Region will observe a half-day civic holiday on Friday, April 4, 2025 in recognition of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation’s (YKDFN) Spring Carnival.
Service adjustments on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., will include the following:
- Reduced Services: Primary Care
- Closed: Audiology, Child Development Team, Mental Health (Child and Youth Counselling), Mental Health (Mental Health and Access to Care Survey), Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Public Health, Speech Language Pathology
- No Service Reductions: Extended Care Unit, Home Care, Long Term Care
The service reduction in Primary Care will not impact appointments that are already booked. Please plan to attend your appointment as scheduled.
The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) provides up to a half-day off work with pay each year in recognition of a community-declared holiday. Services that typically close during statutory holidays are able to close or reduce services to allow staff to attend these community events. The NTHSSA thanks residents for their patience and understanding during this period.
