(Yellowknife, September 11, 2025) - The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) wishes to make the public in Yellowknife aware of a situation that took place earlier today at Stanton Territorial Hospital (STH).

At approximately 10:00 a.m., an individual entered the facility through the front entrance, exhibiting hostile behavior. This same individual was also present earlier in the week and exhibited similar behaviour that required staff intervention. On both occasions, security immediately intervened and RCMP were called. This individual has since been apprehended.  

The NTHSSA takes situations that may pose a threat to the safety of others very seriously. We would like to reassure residents that there is currently no threat to public safety at STH. All necessary procedures for incidents of this kind were followed and the situation was contained quickly.

The NTHSSA would also like to express its gratitude to the staff and security at STH for their swift and effective response in mitigating the situation, as well as to the RCMP for their prompt and timely action.
