Social Work Month Spotlight: Braj Tripathi, MBA, M.A., RSW

Blog Post

Braj Tripathi (Clinical Supervisor, Community Counselling Program, Tłı̨chǫ Community Services Agency) came to Canada in early 2000 and currently has the privilege of living in Whatì. Braj held a background in business, sociology and engineering but felt like these areas of practice did not align with what he enjoyed most – listening, problem solving, advocating, and supporting others. Upon research and reflection, Braj came to understand that the field of social work best aligned with what he felt most passionate about and decided to pursue education in this space.

Upon his social work graduation from the University of Victoria, Braj excitedly joined the field of social work and has spent time working in Alberta and the Northwest Territories. Braj proudly holds the role of Clinical Supervisor with the Community Counselling Program in the Tłı̨chǫ region. Braj is delighted to work alongside an amazing team of Mental Health and Addictions Counsellors, Child and Youth Counsellors, and Mental Health Wellness Workers.

Braj feels privileged to live on the Tłı̨chǫ lands, provide support, and empower community members to see how their own gits and skills can be used in their wellness journeys. Braj is clinically trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), an evidence-based specialization which aims to support children and adults who have experienced psychological trauma. ART provides a safe space and solutions to coping with adverse experiences, without the requirement of disclosure.

Braj’s favourite coping skill is going for walks in the sunshine or taking a nice boat ride with friends on Lac La Martre.
