Catherine Dixon, Territorial Manager of Cancer Care with NTHSSA, recently cut off almost two feet of her hair to donate to children experiencing hair loss.

“I am excited to share that I have been growing out my hair to donate and recently cut 21 inches off,” she said. “This is my sixth time donating my hair.”
This year, Dixon decided to donate her hair to Angel Hair for Kids, a Canadian charity that provides wigs to children experiencing hair loss due to medical conditions like cancer, burns, and alopecia. She called the decision a meaningful and fulfilling one, knowing that her hair will help give a child the confidence and joy that a wig can provide.
Thousands of Canadian children lose their hair every year due to a variety of medical reasons. Like Dixon, Angel Hair For Kids believes that the simple act of providing a wig or hair loss solution can increase a child’s self-esteem and confidence during a difficult time in their young lives. “I am grateful to be able to contribute in this way”, Dixon said.
“I hope it encourages others to consider donating as well. It’s a simple way to make a big difference in someone’s life.”

There are also a number of national organizations that accept hair for this cause. In many cases, hair must be at least 12 inches in length, clean, dry, and not chemically-treated. Some of these organizations include:
Thank you, Catherine, for this meaningful donation, for inspiring others to follow suit, and for making a difference for children experiencing hair loss!
