Telehealth

Telehealth is a services that uses video calling and other telecommunication technologies to connect patients and practitioners that are located in different communities.   Telehealth has given us the ability to bridge geographical distances and improve the access to and delivery of health and social services to the people of the north.

Our telehealth services allow a patient who is located in a remote community consult with a doctor or specialist located in one of our larger centres.

The benefits of telehealth include:

  • Less time away from home or work to receiving care.
  • Reduced costs and stress associated with travel.
  • Access to services that are not available in your home community.
  • Secure and confidential.
  • Choosing to allow family members to participate in your appointment.
  • Improves the quality of your care by having follow-up appointments.
  • Ability for professional development, support and patient education.

How can I access Telehealth?

Contact your local health centre or health cabin to determine if telehealth could be right for you.  Not all health and social services appointments can be provided over telehealth.
