PUBLIC NOTICE: NTHSSA Service Level Update - Services return to pre-evacuation levels in Fort Smith, Yellowknife and Stanton Territorial Hospital

(Yellowknife, Fort Smith – September 29, 2023) The NTHSSA is advising residents that services at the Stanton Territorial Hospital, Yellowknife Region & Fort Smith have resumed and are back to normal capacity.

Stanton Territorial Hospital:                                                                                    

  • Completed the repatriation of patients and extended care residents.
  • Rebooking is ongoing for those who were impacted by the cancellations due to the evacuations.
  • Elective surgeries will resume on October 3rd, 2023.
  • Stanton Territorial Hospital Labour and Delivery Unit is now operational, and prenatal, postpartum and newborn services are available in Yellowknife. The Lois Hole pop-up Northwest Territories Prenatal Clinic in Edmonton (previously found through 780-735-6635) is now closed.
  • Services back to pre-evacuation levels.

Fort Smith:                                      

  • Long term care residents in the Northern Lights Special Care Home have been repatriated.
  • Please note that rebooking appointments is ongoing for those impacted by cancellations due to the evacuations.
  • Services back to pre-evacuation levels.

Nunavut:

  • Services normally accessed by Kitikmeot residents in Yellowknife, primarily through Stanton Territorial Hospital, are now back to full services. Nunavut patient diversion ended on September 26th.
