The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Services Authority (NTHSSA) is now recommending a third dose of the Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines for people who are severely immunocompromised and essential front-line health care workers at high-risk of exposure in Yellowknife and Behch

After staffing assessments related to local school closures the NTHSSA will continue Primary Care and Public Health Services at the same level they were being delivered prior to the school closure announcement. Home Care will see a new service reduction.

The NTHSSA is now offering a COVID-19 test to all patients when they are admitted to hospital or before certain procedures (endoscopies, all surgeries including same-day surgeries, sedations, pulmonary function tests, and exercise stress tests).

Due to the closure of Yellowknife area schools the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority will be scaling down services for the day of September 14, 2021. This service disruption is required to assess staffing levels and the impact of childcare on staffing levels.

Effective immediately all services offered by the Combined Day and Sobering Centre located at 5111, 51st street in Yellowknife will be suspended until further notice. This closure is due to further staffing shortages related to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak in Yellowknife.

UPDATE, SEPT 10: Due to staff shortages, sobering centre services which normally operate from 10am to 7am daily will be impacted September 10th and 11th. Hours will be reduced to 6pm to 7am.  Services are expected to return to regular hours on Sunday, September 12th.
