Today marks the International Day of the Midwife, a day to celebrate and raise awareness about the midwifery profession. The theme for 2025 is “Midwives: Critical in Every Crisis”.

Natasha Penney has worked with the NTHSSA since 2015, providing long service dedication as the Mental Health and Addictions Counsellor in Fort Liard, NT, with the Community Counselling Program.
Lauren O'Keefe received her Master’s of Counselling Psychology: Art Therapy from Adler University in 2016 after which she moved to Fort Simpson where she served the community as a Mental Health Addictions Counsellor, Regional Clinical Supervisor, and Regional Manager.
In March of 2007 Jamie left his hometown of Vancouver, BC and came north to fulfil the role of Community Wellness Worker in Tsiigehtchic, NT.
Rosemin Nathoo is currently completing her 8-month practicum with the community counselling program in Inuvik, Northwest Territories, as the final stage of her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.
