Fort Smith, June 3, 2020 — Over the last month and especially over the last two weeks, Fort Smith has seen a significant decrease in the number of patients requiring COVID-19 testing at the COVID-19 offsite screening clinic.
In response to COVID-19, Virtual Care services are being offered across the NWT, and the NTHSSA Rehabilitation team was one of the first programs to start offering these virtual appointments.
Over the past weeks, Fort Smith has seen a significant reduction in the number of patients requiring testing for COVID-19.
The community of Fort Providence was recently able to use NWT Virtual Care to offer a virtual physician clinic at their health centre.
To effectively service the reduced demand for COVID testing and the regular need for non-COVID health care services, we are scaling back from the COVID drive-through testing.
