(Yellowknife – June 28, 2023) The NTHSSA is advising residents that the online booking platform to schedule a COVID-19 vaccination appointment will no longer be available after June 30, 2023 due to reduced demand and smaller volume of appointments being served.

For all immunization appointments, including the COVID-19 vaccine and Monkeypox vaccine, residents can call Yellowknife Public Health at (867) 767-9120.

The NTHSSA will advise the public when future mass vaccine opportunities will be available as respiratory virus season approaches.

(Yellowknife – June 19, 2023) – The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority is advising residents of service level impacts in the Yellowknife Region due to ongoing staffing challenges within the health and social services system. 

Lab Services at Yellowknife Primary Care

The Yellowknife Primary Care Clinic (YPCC) laboratory collection site will be closed for service from June 19 – 30, 2023.

The Sahtu Regional Wellness Council (RWC) serves as an advisory body to the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Leadership Council. The RWC provides advice regarding health and social services, priorities under the territorial health and social services plan, and the promotion of health and wellness. The RWC plays a role in ensuring that the concerns and input from the public are addressed and used to inform the delivery of services.

(Yellowknife – May 1, 2023) - On May 6th, 2023, the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is hosting a pop-up clinic in Yellowknife where individuals can get a quick STI test without an appointment. The clinic will be open from 11 AM to 4 PM at the Yellowknife Primary Care Clinic with Nurses from Yellowknife Public Health available to provide services. All appointments will be by walk-in only. All residents are invited to come for information or to access testing, and to help break down stigma of sexually transmitted infections.

(Yellowknife – April 26, 2023) The NTHSSA invites those who are due for a cervical cancer screening (Pap) test to attend the Pap Clinic at the Yellowknife Primary Care Clinic on Saturday, April 29, 2023. People with cervixes should begin cervical cancer screening at age 21, or 3 years after becoming sexually active; whichever comes first. 

This event aims to:

(Yellowknife – April 20, 2023) The Yellowknife COVID-19 Immunization Response Team Clinic at the Centre Square Mall will close permanently on April 29, 2023. Services offered at this clinic including COVID-19 and monkey pox vaccines will be available through Yellowknife Public Health.

For access to COVID-19 vaccines individuals will be able to book an appointment online until the end of June. In July bookings will shift back to the same process as other vaccine requests and will be accessed through regular public health appointments.

(Yellowknife – April 18, 2023) On Monday, April 17th an individual passed away after being brought to the Yellowknife Day Shelter operated by the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority. 

Emergency services attended the Day Shelter at the time of the incident and the individual was transported to Stanton Territorial Hospital.

The matter was reported to both the RCMP and the NWT Coroner, and NTHSSA will be undertaking internal processes to review this incident. Next of kin for the deceased individual have been notified.

The Dehcho Regional Wellness Council is holding a meeting. The public are invited to attend in person or virutally either via Zoom or Teleconference.
