Public Notice: Yellowknife Public Health Closure on August 19

(Yellowknife, August 17, 2022) – Please be advised that the Public Health Clinic in Yellowknife will be closed on Friday, August 19, 2022 as staff will be attending a training workshop. If you require care, please call the Yellowknife Primary Care Clinic at (867) 767-9294.

Public Notice: NTHSSA to continue to operate day and sobering centre services in Yellowknife

(Yellowknife, August 8, 2022) On July 15, 2022 a request for proposals for operators of the day and sobering centre services offered in Yellowknife closed without any bids.

To ensure continued services for these essential programs the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority will continue as operator of these services until at least March 31, 2023. During this time a new call for proposals will be issued to find an operator for this programming.

PUBLIC NOTICE: Yellowknife Primary Care Centre (YPCC) Changing Phone Number

(Yellowknife, August 4, 2022) – The Yellowknife Primary Care Centre is undergoing a phone number change. 

Please be advised that the YPCC phone number is now (867) 767-9294.

The previous YPCC phone number of (867) 920-7777 will be deactivated after September 1st, 2022.

The phone system for the Yellowknife Primary Care Clinic is undergoing a long-awaited system upgrade that should improve service and address some of the concerns about the system. 

Public Notice: Stanton Operating Room to be reduced to Emergency Services only from July 18-22, 2022

(Yellowknife - July 6, 2022) – The Stanton Territorial Hospital Operating Room will be reduced to emergency services only from July 18-22, 2022. This means that any surgeries previously booked during this time frame will be cancelled, but the operating room will continue to be available to take urgent or emergent cases.

Public Notice - NWT Proof of Vaccination Credential (PVC) Update to Include Middle Names

(Yellowknife, June 6, 2022) – NWT residents are being informed that the Proof of Vaccination Credential (PVC) is being updated to include middle names. Any individuals who want their middle names to be reflected on their PVC downloaded QR code can now do so starting June 6, 2022. To acquire the updated PVC with your middle name, residents are asked to re-download their PVC through the online Request electronic proof of vaccination form.

Public Notice: Yellowknife Primary Care - Reduced appointment availability related to ongoing practitioner staff shortages

(Yellowknife, May 26, 2022) – Residents in Yellowknife are being advised of reduced access to services in Primary Care Services due to lower than normal practitioner staffing for clinics at Yellowknife Primary Care and Frame Lake Community Health Clinic. To accommodate staffing levels, Yellowknife Primary Care Centre will not be offering evening clinics, 4:30pm-9:30pm, on the following dates:

Public Notice - Update on Day and Sobering Centre Services in Yellowknife

(Yellowknife, March 30, 2022) – Beginning tomorrow, March 31, there will be changes taking effect in the delivery of day and sobering centre services in Yellowknife. These changes are being implemented as the contract with the current operator, the NWT Disabilities Council (NWTDC), ends and the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) assumes operations of the 50th street location.

Aklavik Service Level Update

(Aklavik, March 18, 2022) – Due to staffing capacity, the Aklavik health centre will be operating on emergency service only, on March 18th, 2022 from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Emergency services are still available by calling the on call phone at 867-375-2516; regular appointments and non-urgent issues may be delayed.

Fort Smith Mental Health Services Update: March 14-18

(March 11, 2022) - Group and individual mental health and community counselling services are available to residents in Fort Smith. For the week of March 14th - 18th, 2022, the following services are available:

Open Group Sessions

  • March 15th 5:30pm to 7:30pm - Roaring Rapids Hall.
  • March 16th 5:30pm to 7:30pm - Fort Smith Health Centre Multipurpose Room (just left from main entrance)
