Fort Smith Service Update

(Fort Smith, March 7, 2022) - Fort Smith Health Centre will be operating at normal service levels. Booked appointments will proceed and anyone who requires services should contact the health centre as usual. We thank the community for their understanding over the weekend while access was modified to ensure the safety of staff and the public.

Extension of in school-based Speech-Language Pathology service change

(Yellowknife, March 3, 2022) – Due reduced staffing capacity caused by vacancies, in-school Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) services will remain suspended through the rest of the 2022 school year. Continuing with this service change will allow for continuity of travel clinics in smaller NWT communities, and for a focus on providing services to children who will soon age out of eligibility for speech language therapy.

NTHSSA to Temporarily Operate Yellowknife Day and Sobering Centre

(Yellowknife, March, 1, 2022) – Starting April 1st, 2022 the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority will be the operator of the sobering centre located on 50th street in Yellowknife. This change takes effect when the contract with the current operator, the NWT Disabilities Council (NWTDC), ends on March 31st 2022.

This change is intended to be in place for 6 months while a request for proposal process is undertaken to find an operator for the centre.

Re-Opening of Lab & Diagnostic Imaging Services at Yellowknife Primary Care Clinic

Yellowknife (January 10th, 2021) – As the NTHSSA continues the response to COVID-19, services are being re-opened to the public. Yellowknife Primary Care Clinic (YPCC) will be reopening its Lab Services on January 10th and Diagnostic Imaging Services on January 12th, 2022.

Laboratory Services:
The new clinic hours for Laboratory Services will be as follows:

Mon-Fri, 09:00-16:00 (except statutory Holidays) & Closed for lunch 11:45-12:30.

Opening of Temporary Day Shelter at Former Site of Yellowknife Visitors Centre

Yellowknife (December 6, 2021) – On the morning of December 6th, 2021, the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority opened a new Temporary Day Shelter at the former site of Yellowknife Visitors Centre.  This facility and the services offered within will support homeless members of the Yellowknife community.

Opening of Temporary Shelter at Yellowknife Community Arena

(Yellowknife, October 27, 2021) – As part of ongoing day shelter support services, a temporary shelter space opened at the Yellowknife Community Arena on Monday, October 25th. This shelter will be operating seven days a week from 7:00am-6:30pm each day, providing services that include meals, outreach nursing, showers, case management, and cultural and support programming.
