Public Notice: Return to NWT and Supports for Residents who Have Medical Appointments or are admitted in Hospital in Alberta

(Fort Smith –September 17, 2023) – As residents return to Fort Smith – or for those who have not yet returned to Yellowknife - the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is providing guidance for certain groups of individuals who may need to stay in their current locations for ongoing access to care and services.

Group One:  NWT residents who are currently admitted to hospital or are in Long Term Care Facilities in Alberta.

PUBLIC NOTICE: Health and Social Service Update – Service levels for September 13th, 2023

(Yellowknife, September 13, 2023) – The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority is providing notice to residents about service levels in Yellowknife and preparations that are ongoing for further service ramp up post-evacuation as part of our recovery and resumption of services.

PUBLIC NOTICE: NTHSSA Advising Residents to Expect Limited Services in Advance of and After Public Re-Entry

(Yellowknife, September 1, 2023) – NWT residents are being advised to expect limited services at the time of Yellowknife re-entry as the health and social services system ramps-up services. At the current time almost all health services in Yellowknife are suspended, except for basic emergency department care.  Reinstating services will take time with a focus initially on life-sustaining services, although our goal will be to return to pre-evacuation service levels as quickly and as safely as we are able.

PUBLIC NOTICE: Service Update – August 24 – Launch of Wildfire Health Services Updates Webpage, 811 Information Line, Info for Residents with Upcoming Appointments

(Yellowknife, August 24, 2023) – The NTHSSA has launched the Wildfire Health Services Updates Webpage to provide current information on what services and supports are available to evacuees. This will be the key source of information for health and social services supports and programs during the evacuation.

PUBLIC NOTICE: Service Update - August 20 - Update on Remote Prescription Refills for Evacuees

(August 20, 2023) – With primary care services in Yellowknife closed and multiple communities under evacuation, an alternate process for requesting prescription refills for evacuated individuals is being put in place. Any resident of the NWT who is impacted by the evacuations can use this service.

(Yellowknife, August 15, 2023) – The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority is providing notice to residents about adjustments to services in response to ongoing wildfire activity. Out of an abundance of caution, and to ensure a state of readiness should the wildfire situation escalate, the following steps are being taken to preserve health and social services system capacity.
