NTHSSA reflects on six months of staff-led initiatives in support of the Public Administrator’s “52 Improvements in 52 Weeks” initiative

YELLOWKNIFE (January 13, 2026) – As the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) passes the halfway point of the Public Administrator’s “52 Improvements in 52 Weeks” initiative - an internal campaign focused on small but meaningful changes across the organization - we are proud to reflect on staff-led efforts that are making a difference across the NTHSSA and throughout the territory.

NTHSSA Shares Updated Public Administrator Work

Yellowknife, Northwest Territories (November 5, 2025) - The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is sharing updates that have been made to the Public Administrator (PA) Work Plan to reflect progress made during the first three-quarters of the calendar year. 

As indicated in the plan, the PA has spent much of his time during this first year getting to know the organization, understanding where the pressures are coming from and making his way across regions to meet with local leaders and residents. 

NTHSSA Shares Results from Shift Bidding System for Summer Physician Staffing for Stanton Territorial Hospital's Emergency Department

YELLOWKNIFE (July 24, 2025) - In early July, the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) implemented a temporary shift bidding system to support summer staffing of physicians at the Stanton Territorial Hospital (STH) Emergency Department (ED).

(YELLOWKNIFE (July 7, 2025) – The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is pleased to share that a new, temporary summer shift bidding system aimed at strengthening physician coverage in the Emergency Department (ED) at Stanton Territorial Hospital (STH) has been rolled out as part of overall contingency measures as previously shared.

YELLOWKNIFE (June 20, 2025) – The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) and Victoria-based INVINCIBLE group hosted a powerful presentation in Yellowknife today that highlighted the firsthand experiences of Indigenous youth in care.

The event was co-organized by Child, Family and Community Wellness and members of INVINCIBLE: Our Voices From Care, a digital storytelling project by Indigenous youth in care.

(Yellowknife, March 21, 2024) – March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month – a cancer that is the second most common cause of cancer related deaths in the Northwest Territories (NWT). Throughout the month of March, the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is reminding residents about the importance of healthy habits and regular screening for those who qualify, and sharing information about the Colorectal Cancer Screening program that was launched in 2020.
