Public Notice: 2023 Cancer Care Patient Satisfaction Survey Results

(Yellowknife, November 8, 2024) - The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) would like to share the results of the 2023 Cancer Care Patient Satisfaction Survey. The survey is distributed to patients across the Northwest Territories with the goal of receiving feedback on the NTHSSA programs and services accessed by patients. Some of those programs include the cancer navigation program, medical oncology clinics, chemotherapy unit, and medical travel.

Public Notice: Dates Updated for Service Reduction to Obstetrics at Inuvik Regional Hospital

(Inuvik, October 30, 2024) – Following the public notice issued last week, the NTHSSA is happy to inform expecting parents in Inuvik that efforts to enhance staffing levels at the Inuvik Regional Hospital (IRH) to support obstetrics has been temporarily successful and the suspension of service dates have been modified. (September 27, 2024) - As the upcoming flu and COVID-19 vaccine season approaches, the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) wants to remind the public to keep an eye out for information about vaccination clinics in your region.

It is important to stay protected and vaccinations are a key step in keeping communities healthy and safe.

Public Notice – Fort Good Hope Health and Social Services Update

(Yellowknife, July 5th, 2024) – The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) wishes to advise Fort Good Hope residents of updates to health and social services in the community. 

Over the weekend of July 5th, residents who require non-urgent health advice are encouraged to call 811 to speak with a Registered Nurse. This service is available 24/7 and is confidential. The nurse on call will also be available in the community over the weekend and can be contacted at 867-496-0004,

Public Notice: Fort Smith Health Centre Reduced Services for booked appointments for June and July

(Fort Smith - June 26, 2024) - Due to reduced physician availability the Fort Smith Health Centre is expecting limited appointment availability from June 28 to July 24, 2024. A physician will be on-call in person or virtually 24/7 for the Emergency Department.

For non-urgent issues, such as a sore throat or earache, please continue to call Primary Care at 867-872-6205 or 867-872-6203. Appointments with Community Health Nurses are available for these types of concerns.

PUBLIC NOTICE: Closure of Fort Good Hope Health Centre and Information About Health and Social Services Available for Evacuees in Norman Wells

(Norman Wells, June 16, 2024) – Effective immediately the Cassien Edgi Health and Social Services Centre will close as the community evacuation continues. This closure will be in place until further notice.

A mobile paramedic service is stationed in the community to address basic health needs in the community and for first responders until services can be re-established at the health centre. Emergency services personnel in community will be able to reach the paramedic by radio in the event of any communication outages.
