Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) Share Important Information with Residents About Measles Vaccinations and Accessing Services

(YELLOWKNIFE, NT), May 6, 2025 – Following notification through a public health advisory (PHA) from the Office of the Chief Public Health Officer (OCPHO), the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) would like to share some important information with residents about accessing services and precautions if exposed to measles.

If you have been exposed to measles and are not vaccinated:

Relocation of Child and Family Services and Family Preservation Program in Fort Smith

Fort Smith (March 27, 2025) – The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is pleased to advise residents in Fort Smith that the Child and Family Services and Family Preservation Program are relocating to a new, standalone building in the community. Staff who currently operate out of the Fort Smith Health Centre will move into a nearby building – located at 136 McDougal Road – between March 31 and April 1, 2025. 

Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) Provide Update on Hematology Oncology Service in the Northwest Territories

(March 12, 2025) - The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) would like to provide an update to residents on efforts to enable the future reinstatement of hematology oncology services in the Northwest Territories (NWT), with the support of Alberta Health Services (AHS).  

Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority Implements Patient Survey at Yellowknife Primary Care

(Yellowknife, March 7, 2025): As part of the work under Primary Health Care Reform (PHCR), the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA), with the Department of Health and Social Services (HSS) are launching a patient satisfaction survey at Yellowknife Primary Care locations.

Public Notice: Incident at Stanton Territorial Hospital, No Concern to Public Safety

(Yellowknife, March 1, 2025) - The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) wishes to make residents in Yellowknife aware of an incident that took place this afternoon, at Stanton Territorial Hospital (STH). At approximately 3:00 p.m., a person entered the facility in a hostile state, and RCMP were called. The individual has since been apprehended.

Public Notice: NTHSSA Shares Information Following Notice of Confirmed Avian Influenza in the NWT

(Yellowknife, November 29, 2024) – Following notice issued about a confirmed case in a bird of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) or Avian flu in the Northwest Territories (NWT) the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) wants to share information about how and when to access health services if you think you may have been exposed to an infected animal.

Public Notice: Reduction of Services at Yellowknife Public Health

(Yellowknife, November 20, 2024) – The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) would like to advise residents that Yellowknife Public Health is on reduced services until at least January 6, 2025.

This temporary reduction in services is a result of low staffing and is being done to ensure essential programs offered by Yellowknife Public Health are maintained.
