NTHSSA Supports Public Administrator’s Commitment to Track 52 Improvements in 52 Weeks

YELLOWKNIFE (August 15, 2025) - As part of the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority’s (NTHSSA) Public Administrator’s commitment to continuous improvement, the NTHSSA has started a “52 Improvements in 52 Weeks” initiative, which is an internal campaign focused on small but meaningful changes across the organization.

New Callback Request Option Now Available for Lab Appointments in Yellowknife Region

YELLOWKNIFE (August 12, 2025) - The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) has introduced a new Callback Request Form to make it easier for you to book lab appointments.

Instead of needing to make an appointment in-person or calling and waiting on hold, you can now simply request a callback. This new option helps reduce wait times and ensures everyone has a fair chance to access services, even during high-demand periods.

Improving Access to Addiction Recovery: New Alcohol Withdrawal Management Services Available in the Northwest Territories

YELLOWKNIFE (July 22, 2025) - The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is pleased to share that as of May 2025, alcohol withdrawal management services coordinated by the Alcohol Withdrawal Access Program (AWAP) is now available at Stanton Territorial Hospital (STH). This is a major step forward in enhancing in-territory options for mental wellness and addictions recovery.

Changes to Fort McPherson, Sahtu, Dehcho, and Fort Smith On-Call Services

YELLOWKNIFE (July 7, 2025) – The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is shifting the current after-hours emergency on-call services model for Child and Family Services in multiple regions to support sustainable service delivery to residents in Northwest Territories (NWT) communities.

As of June 30, 2025, Child and Family Services full-time after-hours emergency on-call services in the community of Fort McPherson have ceased, with calls instead being directed to an on-call worker in Inuvik.

Child and Youth Counsellors Available Throughout Summer To Support Youth And Young Adults

YELLOWKNIFE (June 25, 2025) – As the 2024-2025 school year comes to an end, the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) would like to remind residents that Child and Youth Counsellors will remain available throughout the summer to support children, youth, and their families.

NTHSSA Share Information About STH Emergency Department Contingency Plans

(Yellowknife, June 4, 2025) - The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) understands the importance of keeping residents informed about service reductions across the territory. We also recognize the public's interest in understanding the contingency plans in place for the Emergency Department (ED) at Stanton Territorial Hospital (STH), particularly during times when staffing levels fall below optimal levels. Public Notice: Vaccine Walk-in Clinic in Yellowknife This Weekend for Children Aged 6 Months to 2 Years

Yellowknife, June 5, 2025 – The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) would like to remind residents in Yellowknife about a pop-up walk-in clinic taking place this weekend at Yellowknife Public Health.  This clinic is being offered to support families with young children and ensure they’re protected against measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR).

Measles Response: Planning for Future Clinics and Recognizing Swift Action

YELLOWKNIFE (May 23, 2025) – As Public Health staff continue to mitigate the spread of measles in Yellowknife, the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) remains committed to supporting this response and is actively planning clinics focused on the MMR vaccine, to ensure eligible residents who are not immunized, can protect themselves from potential exposures in the future.
